A Wedding Day to remember I was so touched by the friendship at St. Philips during my daughters Wedding on 10th May 2003, Barbara Cook and Diane Daniels took on the task of organising the day, they started at 9.00am on that Saturday morning and did not leave until 11.00pm. I cannot tell you how very hard they toiled - they did not stop, when they thought they could grab a bite to eat during the speeches, they were shocked to find that the speeches were over in 15 minutes, with guests once again wandering around in pursue of cups of tea. The whole event started on the Friday evening with Diane, Barbara and David Freed taking on the task of flower arranging, they were joined by a team of arrangers from both St. Philips and All Saints. Steve's mother spent a fortune on flowers, so you can imagine the task! Well I must say the church looked and smelt beautiful and a huge arch was made for Vicki to pass through and for all the guests to admire in the back of the hall. There were 87 guests who ate till full, more arrived at 7.00pm when we had a magic show for children in the coffee bar, I must also thank Denise Joy for welcoming the guests, Diane Fletcher, Emma from the choir and her friend for their endless washing up and tea making. Vicki and Steve were so impressed and grateful that the two churches gave up their time and talents especially so that they could have a great wedding, I heard quite a few comments from guests on how surprised they were that the church was so 'OPEN' and 'WELCOMING' to accommodate a wedding celebration. Truly you had to be there to experience the commitment of the family of the church to appreciate their Christian act of helping, I could go on to name many others who contributed towards the great day, Brian Neaves and the choir, Christopher not only for the service but also for helping to deliver the black chairs back to All Saints. Mollie for making an appearance at the wedding which Vicki and Steve both noticed and appreciated. If I have not mentioned you personally it does not mean that I have forgotten your kindness and generosity A BIG Thank You to all of you that made me so proud to be a member of the family of God that I feel so passionately about. If you are thinking of a venue for a truly magical wedding contact me for a viewing of the pictures. Love and thanks from Janet Dredge (proud Mother of the Bride), not only because Vicki is my daughter, but because you are all my friends. God Bless you all. |
